Cathy A. Catterson
Cathy Catterson is the Circuit and Court of Appeals Executive for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, headquartered in San Francisco.
She serves as chief administrative officer for the Circuit Executive Office and was appointed in 2007. In her position she provides administrative, operational and automation support to a 45 -judge court; is responsible for processing of approximately 12,000 cases annually; and has managerial responsibility for a staff of 300, including divisional clerk’s offices in Pasadena, Portland and Seattle, staff attorneys and circuit court mediators.
Catterson served as Chief Deputy Clerk prior to her appointment as Clerk in 1985. She also was a law clerk to the Honorable Edward J. Devitt, U.S. District Judge, 1977-1979. She received her B.A. degree from the Catholic University of America and her J.D. degree from George Mason University.
